INFORMATION Debit and Credit Card Security Breach from Hannaford Bros. Supermarket

Hannaford announced, on March 17th, that it had a data intrusion into its computer network that resulted in the theft of 4.2 million customer credit and debit card numbers.  Hannaford reports that the information stolen included card numbers and expiration dates. No personal identifying information such names, addresses, birth dates, or social security numbers were accessed or obtained.

OTIS has been informed by VISA that approximately 2,500 OTIS debit and credit cards were affected.  At this time no individual member accounts have been affected by fraudulent activity. Any card holder impacted by the data theft will be receiving a letter from OTIS informing them that their card will need to be reissued by April 1st.  Impacted cards can be reissued at the credit union or mailed to you as soon as possible.

Please rest assured that OTIS is taking all necessary precautions to ensure that our members’ accounts are safe and protected, and all accounts are fully insured by the National Credit Union Administration. 

OTIS VISA Credit and Debit cards have the following protection 24 hours a day 365 days a year:

• All credit/debit cards are protected by VISA’s Zero Fraud Liability Program.
  
• OTIS monitors all accounts for potential fraudulent activity. The credit union has card monitoring technology systems in place that monitors all credit and debit card transactions for fraudulent activity.

Please take the following measures to protect your accounts:

• Carefully review your checking account or Visa Credit Card information via OTIS ON-LINE and OTIS Talk.
• Carefully review your monthly statement to your receipts
  
  

Please notify the credit union immediately if you find any suspicious transactions on your account!

DO NOT GIVE out your Personal Information to anyone who contacts you via phone or email.
